Five Parochial Vicars Assigned to Parishes
Five priests have been assigned as parochial vicars in parishes of the archdiocese, the Cardinal's Office has announced.
The newly assigned are Father David A. DeSimone, Sacred Heart parish, Manhattan; Father Robert J. Ginel, Holy Cross parish, the Bronx; Father Kevin P. Malick, Immaculate Conception parish, Tuckahoe; Father John R. McCarthy, St. Clare's, Staten Island; and Father Peter Pomposello, Holy Cross, the Bronx. The assignments of Fathers Malick and McCarthy became effective on April 12; Father DeSimone, April 1; Father Pomposello, May 1; and Father Ginel, June 1.
Father DeSimone had been chaplain at Vassar Brothers Hospital since 2005. He was pastor of St. Rita's parish, Staten Island, 2004-2005, and Most Sacred Heart, Port Jervis, 1998-2004, where he was administrator for two years previously. He was parochial vicar at St. Joseph's, Middletown, 1992-1996; St. John's, Kingsbridge, the Bronx, 1988-1992; and St. Jude's, Manhattan, 1987-1988. Born in the Bronx, he studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph's Seminary in Dunwoodie and was ordained in 1987.
Father Ginel had been on a sabbatical at North American College in Rome. He had served as pastor of St. Peter's parish, Monticello, since 1995. He also was administrator there for a year. He was parochial vicar at St. Mary and St. Andrew parish in Ellenville, 1984-1994, and at Holy Name of Jesus, Manhattan, 1978-1984. Born in Manhattan, he studied for the priesthood at St. Joseph's Seminary and was ordained in 1978.
Father Malick had served as parochial vicar at St. Augustine's, New City, since his ordination last May. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up on Staten Island and studied for the priesthood at St. John Neumann Residence and St. Joseph's Seminary in Dunwoodie.
Father McCarthy had served as parochial vicar at Sacred Heart parish, Newburgh, since his ordination in 2005. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up on Staten Island and studied for the priesthood at St. John Neumann Residence and St. Joseph's Seminary.
< B >Father Pomposello had been parochial vicar of St. Elizabeth's parish in Washington Heights since 2006. Before that he served at SS. John and Paul in Larchmont from his ordination in 2004. Born on Staten Island, he studied for the priesthood at St. John Neumann Residence and St. Joseph's Seminary.
