ST. JOSEPH'S SEMINARY CLASS OF 2008
Cardinal Egan will ordain nine men to the priesthood at a Mass in St. Patrick's Cathedral Saturday, May 10, at 9 a.m.
Six men will be ordained as priests of the archdiocese, and two as priests of the Bronx-based Community of Franciscans of the Renewal, whose friars serve in the archdiocese and overseas. One will be ordained for the Idente Missionaries, who administer two parishes in the Bronx.
Those to be ordained for the archdiocese are Fathers Robert J. Bubel, Patrick K. Curley, Salvatore DeStefano, Ramón A. López, Patrick McCarthy, and Ronald Perez.
To be ordained as Franciscans of the Renewal are Fathers Francis Mary Roaldi, C.F.R., and Agustino M. Torres, C.F.R. Father Martin I. Esguerra-López, M.Id., will be ordained for the Idente Missionaries.
All of the candidates for the archdiocese studied at St. John Neumann Residence and St. Joseph's Seminary in Dunwoodie. All have served in pastoral work such as teaching religion, conducting youth retreats, and visiting patients in hospitals and nursing homes. They have served summer assignments in archdiocesan parishes.
Both candidates for the Franciscans of the Renewal studied at St. Joseph's Seminary. They also served in their congregation's apostolates, primarily service to the poor, youth work and evangelization.
The Idente Missionary candidate, who took courses at St. Joseph's Seminary, has been serving as director of religious education at Santa Maria parish in the Bronx.
The Mass of Ordination at the cathedral is open to the public.
