Celebrating St. Anthony

The feast of St. Anthony of Padua was celebrated Sunday, June 10, at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Staten Island. The principal celebrant was Father John Wroblewski, pastor of Our Lady of Pity and St. Anthony of Padua parish. Concelebrating the liturgy was Father John McCarthy, chaplain and religion teacher at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School on Staten Island, who assists at the parish on weekends. Assisting at the altar was Deacon Joseph Rentkowski, a permanent deacon of the parish. A procession through the community of Travis, in steady rain, followed the liturgy. A portrait of St. Anthony was held high, a band played and a statue of St. Anthony followed with Fathers Wroblewski and McCarthy at the end of the procession. The saint’s feast is June 13. more
