Cardinal Celebrates Bicentennial of St. John Bosco at Salesian High School

Cardinal Dolan recently commemorated the bicentennial year of the birth of St. John Bosco by celebrating Mass for the student body of Salesian High School in New Rochelle. The school was founded in 1920 by the Salesians of St. John Bosco. The Nov. 5 liturgy at nearby Holy Name of Jesus Church, also in New Rochelle, included eighth-graders from the parish school.

After Mass, the cardinal visited both Salesian and Holy Name of Jesus School. Holy Name’s pastor is Father Martin Biglin. The parish school principal is Mary Theresa Singer. At Salesian High, the cardinal had lunch and a discussion with the History Club and met directors of the major Salesian mission offices of the world, who had been meeting in New Rochelle.
