Cardinal Dolan’s Advent Reflections on EWTN

Posted

Cardinal Dolan is broadcasting a series of Advent reflections on EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) through Sunday, Dec. 23. The four half-hour episodes, titled “Christ Comes in History, Mystery and Majesty: Reflections on Advent with His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan,” correspond with the four weeks of Advent.

The schedule is as follows:

• “Christ Comes to Us in Majesty” airs in an encore presentation at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. The initial broadcast was Sunday, Dec. 2, the first day of Advent.

In the first presentation, the cardinal reflects on the coming of the Messiah and how the Church, during Advent, consolidates those waiting for centuries into four short weeks.

• “Christ Comes to Us in Mystery” airs at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, the second Sunday of Advent, and in an encore presentation at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.

In the second presentation, Cardinal Dolan reflects on the Mystery of Christ and how the Son of God comes to be reborn in all every day—despite the world’s failure to recognize Him.

• “Christ Comes to Us in History” airs at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, the third Sunday of Advent, and in an encore presentation at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21.

In the third presentation, the cardinal reflects on the Majesty of Christ, His return as the Omnipotent Judge, and explains how all should look at their actions during Advent “under the aspect of eternity.” Such a reflection speaks especially to those mourning the death of a loved one.

• “Christ Comes in His Saints” airs at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, the fourth Sunday of Advent.

In the fourth and final presentation, Cardinal Dolan reflects on how Christ comes to all through the saints, from the proclamation of the kingdom, to the call for repentance and conversion of heart, to which all are especially summoned during the universal Church’s celebration of the “Year of Faith” through Nov. 24, 2013.
