Father Cinnante Named Temporary Administrator of New Rochelle Parish

Father Justin Cinnante has been named temporary administrator of Holy Family parish, New Rochelle, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

Father Cinnante, who serves as chaplain of Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains, will continue in that post. His appointment as temporary administrator was effective Jan. 15.

Father Cinnante has served as chaplain of Archbishop Stepinac since 2011. He previously was parochial vicar of St. Columba’s, Hopewell Junction, and Holy Rosary, the Bronx. He was ordained in 2007.

Msgr. Fernando Berardi, who had served as pastor of Holy Family since 2002, was recently appointed superior of Casa Santa Maria, a residence for English-speaking priests continuing graduate studies in Rome (CNY, Nov. 14, 2013). His appointment was effective Feb. 1.

Also, Father Peter Bannan, pastor of St. Catharine’s parish, Pelham, is now taking a six-month sabbatical, effective Jan. 1.

Father Bannan has served as pastor of St. Catharine’s, Pelham, since 1991. He served as parochial vicar at the following parishes: Corpus Christi, Manhattan; St. Joseph’s, Yorkville, Manhattan; SS. John and Paul, Larchmont; and Immaculate Conception, Tomkins Cove. He was temporary administrator of St. Charles Borromeo, Dover Plains, 1975. He was assigned to the faculty of Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains, 1975-1983. He was ordained in 1967.
