‘Feeding Our Neighbors’ Campaign Collection Begins Jan. 27
For the second year in a row, archdiocesan Catholic Charities will hold the weeklong “Feeding Our Neighbors” campaign from Sunday, Jan. 27, to Sunday, Feb. 3.
The campaign is a direct response to the continued high demand for food and dwindling supplies at food pantries in the archdiocese. Last year, more than 150 parishes, schools and others in the archdiocese contributed more than 50,000 pounds of food and over $100,000.
The food mostly replenished pantries, with some food redistributed to communities in need. In total, the campaign collected food and funds for more than 575,000 meals and made grants to 13 food pantries and soup kitchens.
This year’s goal is to raise enough food and money donations to provide 1 million meals.
The 2013 Feeding Our Neighbors campaign will be an interfaith appeal, as the UJA-Federation of New York is joining Catholic Charities on behalf of New York’s hungry.
