Four Priests Receive Assignments in Parishes

A priest has been appointed pastor, two others have been named temporary administrators and a fourth is now serving as parochial vicar at a new parish, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

Father Tomasz Wilk, O.S.P.P.E., has been named pastor of St. Casimir’s parish, Yonkers.

The new temporary administrators are: Father Andrew Florez, Sacred Heart parish, Mount Vernon, and Father Christopher Johnson, O.C.D., Immaculate Conception parish, Sleepy Hollow.

Father Anthony Pleho has been named parochial vicar of Holy Rosary parish, the Bronx.

The appointments took effect on the following dates: Father Johnson, Oct. 1; Father Wilk, Oct. 7; and Father Pleho, Nov. 6. Father Florez’s appointment will become effective Nov. 30.

Father Tomasz Wilk, O.S.P.P.E., had served since last year at a parish in the Diocese of Norwich, Conn. Before that he served at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pa., 2009-2012. He served in his native Poland in parish ministry, 2007-2009, and at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, 2005-2007. He was ordained in Poland for the Order of St. Paul, the First Hermit, in 2005.

Father Andrew Florez had served 12 years as pastor of St. Peter’s, Rosendale, from 2001 until July. He served as parochial vicar of St. Mary’s, Washingtonville, 1995-2001, and St. Frances de Chantal, the Bronx, 1993-1995. He was ordained in 1993 after studying for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie.

Father Christopher Johnson, O.C.D., an international priest, had served in the archdiocese as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mercy, Port Chester, 2008-2013, and Blessed Sacrament, New Rochelle, 2006-2008. Before that he had pursued doctoral studies in his native India, 2004-2006, and served as a chaplain at a medical center in Duarte, Calif., and as a visiting priest at St. Anastasia’s parish in Douglaston, Queens, both in 2004. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1993 for the Yamil Nadu Province of the Discalced Carmelite Order. He then served in India in parish ministry and as rector of an apostolic school and shrine.

Father Anthony Pleho had served since 2011 as parochial vicar of Holy Trinity, Poughkeepsie. He previously was chaplain for three years at Kateri Residence, Manhattan. He was pastor of Most Holy Trinity parish, Yonkers, 1995-2008, and was administrator for two years before that. He served as parochial vicar of St. Stanislaus, Pleasant Valley; St. Paul’s, Congers; and Our Lady of Victory, Mount Vernon. He was ordained in 1979 after studying for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie.
