Giving Thanks For Their Foundress

STEP TOWARD SAINTHOOD—Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa McCrory, O. Carm., foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, is depicted in a painting at St. Patrick’s Home for the Aged and Infirm in the Bronx. Auxiliary Bishop Gerald Walsh receives the offertory gifts at a Mass of thanksgiving in the home’s chapel Oct. 15. The gifts are presented by two nephews of Mother Angeline: Tom McCrory, in wheelchair, and John McCrory. Sister Patrick Michael Kane, O. Carm., administrator of St. Patrick’s Home, addresses the congregation. The Mass was in thanksgiving for the June 28 decree issued by Pope Benedict XVI that declared Mother Angeline venerable, a step toward sainthood.
