Great Influences

Posted

In the May 26 issue of Catholic New York, you published an obituary for Msgr. Donald W. Hendricks. It mentioned the fact that he had two maternal uncles who were priests. I thought it might be of interest for some to know the names of these uncles. They are Msgr. John C. Dougherty, founding pastor of St. Eugene’s in Yonkers, and Msgr. Daniel M. Dougherty, former pastor of St. Patrick’s in Verplanck. Additionally, his maternal aunt, Sister Mary Daniel Dougherty, was a Franciscan nun.

I am proud to be their niece. They were a wonderful influence in my life.
