Catholic, Muslim and Jewish students from four Manhattan schools come together to experience a traditional Passover Seder and learn about each other’s holiday traditions at an Interfaith Seder celebrated April 19 at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) national headquarters in Manhattan. Participating middle school students were from Epiphany School, the Islamic Cultural Center School and Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan. Pupils from Abraham Joshua Heschel High School served as table captains and facilitated discussions among the student participants. Clergy and faith leaders included Auxiliary Bishop John O’Hara, Sheikh Yahya Abubakar of the Islamic Cultural Center School and Rabbi David Fox Sandmel, director of interfaith affairs at the ADL. The gathering carried the themes “We Are All a Nation of Immigrants” and “Welcoming the Stranger.”
