Iona Women's Coach Is Rookie of the Year

Iona basketball coach Billi Godsey was named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie Coach of the Year April 7. The award was given in Nashville, Tenn., on the eve of the national women’s championship game.

“I am honored and excited for our program to win this award,” she said. “I’d like to thank my players, coaching staff and the Iona administration for making my first season at Iona so memorable”

This is the third award Ms. Godsey has won this post-season. She was also named College Sports Madness Mid-Major Coach of the Year and the 2014 MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) Coach of the Year. In her first year she led Iona to 26 wins and a share of the MAAC regular season championship.
