Ireland’s Own

To the Editor:

I am writing to you from Dublin, Ireland. I am a committee member of the Finglas Concert and Marching Band. Yesterday, I received a copy of your newspaper dated March 20. I was delighted to see a photo of our band marching in the New York St Patrick’s Day parade on your front page.

The paper was sent to my aunt by a friend of hers who lives in Brooklyn. As it happened the band was performing yesterday at a local schools summer fun day. When I showed them the copy of the paper everyone was thrilled to see that we made the front page.

Our group was made up of 110 people, consisting of 50 musicians, with parents and committee. We had an amazing time in New York, and the response we got from local people and ex-pats was tremendous. It was a trip of a lifetime for our group.
