No Absolution

Posted

To the Editor:

In a story in your May 15 issue, Cardinal Walter Kasper says, “It is inconsistent for the Church to teach that every sin can be forgiven, yet withhold access to Communion for divorced and re-married Catholics who seek absolution.”

If those divorced/re-married Catholics in question are living as man and wife, the priest cannot give absolution. Ergo, they cannot receive Communion.
