‘Poor Journalism’

Posted

To the Editor:

Regarding the front-page article of the Dec. 11 issue titled, “Religious Leaders Promote Peace After Jury Decision.” The fourth paragraph reads, “A Staten Island police officer, Joseph Pantaleo, used his nightstick to place a chokehold July 17 on Garner, 44, who was unarmed.”

With the amount of media attention that the video capturing this unfortunate incident received, it is incredible that such an error would be printed in your newspaper. Clearly, Officer Pantaleo did not use his nightstick.

That such misinformation could be contained in this article demonstrates bias on the part of the one who wrote it.  In the future, please stick to printing the facts. This is poor journalism to say the least. This demands an explanation, a retraction and an apology.
