Priests Assigned as Pastors, Administrators

Father Javier Correa-Llano, I.V.E., has been appointed pastor of St. Jerome’s parish in the Bronx, and Father Matthew Newcomb has been named administrator of Immaculate Conception, Port Jervis, the Cardinal’s Office has announced.

         Assigned as temporary administrators were Father John Alderson, O.F.M., at St. Francis of Assisi, Narrowsburg, and Father Innocent Nwachukwu, at Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck.

         Father Correa-Llano’s appointment was effective Feb. 22. The appointments of Father Newcomb and Father Alderson were effective Feb. 1. Father Nwachukwu’s appointment took effect Jan. 26.

         Father Javier Correa-Llano, I.V.E., had served as pastor of St. Mary, Mother of the Church parish in Brooklyn since 2013. Before that he was a missioner in Guyana. A native of Argentina, he is a member of the Institute of the Incarnate Word and was ordained to the priesthood in 2001.

         Father Matthew Newcomb had served since September as parochial vicar of St. Francis of Assisi, Newburgh. He was a faculty member at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, Somers, 2010-2014. He was parochial vicar at St. Joseph’s, Croton Falls, 2006-2010, and St. Joseph’s, Kingston, 2005-2006. He was ordained in 2006.

         Father John Alderson, O.F.M., had served as chaplain and religion teacher at a Catholic high school in Buffalo for the past four years and he had also served there previously. He was pastor of parishes in Butler, N.J., 2008-2010, and in Buffalo, 1999-2006. He also served as a parochial vicar at parishes in Pompton Plains and Fairlawn, N.J. A Franciscan Friar of the Holy Name Province, he professed final vows in 1963 and was ordained in 1966.

         Father Innocent Nwachukwu had served as parochial vicar at Good Shepherd since 2010. He previously had served on a temporary basis at St. Patrick’s in Newburgh.

He was ordained in 2006 in Rome, where he studied for the priesthood. Born in Nigeria, he is a priest of the Diocese of Aba.
