Priests Assigned as Pastors, Administrators, Parochial Vicars

Priests have been appointed to serve as pastors, administrators and parochial vicars in the parishes of the archdiocese as well as in other assignments, the Archbishop’s Office has announced.


Thirteen priests have been assigned as pastors. They are Msgr. Donald Dwyer, Resurrection parish, Rye; Father Brian Brennan, Holy Name of Mary, Croton-on-Hudson; Father Michael Keane, St. Anastasia, Harriman; Father Philip Kelly, St. Francis de Sales, Manhattan; Father Thomas Lutz, St. Augustine’s, Highland; Father David Nolan, St. Joseph of the Holy Family, Harlem; and Father Robert Norris, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Elmsford.


All of those assignments will become effective July 1.


Also assigned as pastors are the following priests who are members of religious communities: Father Gregory Chisholm, S.J., St. Charles Borromeo, Harlem; Father Martin Esguerra-Lopez, M.Id., Santa Maria, Bronx; Father Jose Gimeno-Ortega, Sch.P., Annunciation, Manhattan; Father Mark Hallinan, S.J., St. Mary of the Assumption and Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Benedicta, Staten Island; Father Philip Howard, C.S.Sp., St. Mark the Evangelist, Harlem; and Father Andrew Reitz, O.F.M., St. Francis of Assisi, Manhattan.


All of their appointments have taken effect in the past several months, except for Father Hallinan’s, which will become effective Sept. 1.


Nine priests were assigned as administrators of parishes. They are Msgr. Anthony Marchitelli, Our Lady of the Assumption, Bronx; Msgr. John Paddack, Notre Dame, Manhattan; Father Joseph Emmanuel, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Tuxedo; Father Victor Emumwen, St. Aloysius, Harlem; Father Alfredo Monteiro, St. Mary’s, Mount Vernon; Father Sixto Quezada, Christ the King, Bronx; Father George Sears, St. Mary’s, Poughkeepsie; Father Jean-Paul Soler, St. Denis, Yonkers; and Father William Woodruff, St. John the Evangelist, Saugerties.


All of the appointments will become effective July 1, except for Msgr. Paddack’s, which will become effective Sept. 1.

They are: Father Louis Anderson, St. Lucy’s, Bronx; Father Robert Bubel, St. Patrick’s Cathedral; Father Vincent Druding, Assumption, Peekskill; Father Arthur Golino, St. Frances de Chantal, Bronx; Father Michael Holleran, Notre Dame, Manhattan; Father Neil Kelly, St. Joseph and St. Thomas, Staten Island; Father Ramon Lopez, St. Rose of Lima, Manhattan; Father John McCarthy, St. Ann’s, Staten Island; Father Patrick McCarthy, Our Lady Queen of Peace, Staten Island; Father John Palatucci, St. Paul’s, Congers; Father Ronald Perez, St. Charles, Staten Island; Father Thomas Roslak, St. Clare’s, Staten Island; Father Brian Taylor, St. Benedict’s, Bronx; and Father Matthew Yatkauskas, Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe.


All of the appointments will become effective July 1, except for Father Holleran’s, which will become effective Sept. 1.


Four other priests have also received assignments, and a fifth will begin a sabbatical. They are: Father Thomas Berg, who will become professor of moral theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary; Father Justin Cinnante, who will become chaplain of Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains; Father Eric Cruz, who has been assigned to archdiocesan Catholic Charities; Father Joseph J. Kelly, who has been named spiritual director of the combined program at Cathedral Seminary Residence of the Immaculate Conception in Douglaston, Queens; and Father Edward P. O’Halloran, who will be on sabbatical.


The four appointments will become effective July 1, and Father O’Halloran’s sabbatical will begin Sept. 1.

PASTORS

Msgr. Dwyer has been pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption in the Bronx since 1995 and regional vicar of the East Bronx Vicariate since 2001. He was parochial vicar at Our Lady Star of the Sea on Staten Island, 1989-1995, and at Christ the King in Yonkers, 1979-1989. He was ordained in 1979 and named a monsignor in 2006.


Father Brennan has served at St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac since he was named administrator of the parish in 1999; he became pastor that year in September. He was parochial vicar at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 1990-1999; Holy Name of Jesus, New Rochelle, 1986-1990; St. Joseph’s, Croton Falls, 1981-1984; and Holy Child, Staten Island, 1979-1981. He taught religion at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers from 1984 to 1986. He was ordained in 1979.


Father Keane has served at Holy Name of Mary in Croton-on-Hudson since his appointment as administrator in 2002; he was named pastor in October 2003. He was a guidance counselor and taught religion and psychology at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, 1995-2002, and at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School on Staten Island, 1993-1995. At Lourdes he also was chaplain/campus minister. He was parochial vicar at Regina Coeli, Hyde Park, following his ordination in 1990 until 1993.


Father Kelly has served at St. Joseph of the Holy Family in Harlem since his appointment as administrator in 1997; he has been pastor since October 1999. He was ordained in 1993 and served as parochial vicar at Ascension in Manhattan, 1993-1997.


Father Lutz has been pastor of Sacred Heart in Patterson since 2005 and served for the previous 18 months as administrator. He was parochial vicar at St. Augustine’s, Highland, 1996-2004; St. Francis of Assisi, Newburgh, 1995-1996; and St. Mary’s, Marlboro, 1993-1995. He was ordained in 1993.


Father Nolan has been pastor of SS. Joachim and John the Evangelist in Beacon since 2005. He was pastor of St. Catherine of Genoa in Manhattan, 2000-2005, after having served there for a year as administrator. Ordained in 1995, he served as parochial vicar at St. Brendan’s, the Bronx, 1995-1999.


Father Norris has been administrator of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Elmsford, since 2010. He was pastor of St. Lucy’s, the Bronx, 1997-2003, after having served as administrator, 1996-1997. He taught at Moore Catholic High School on Staten Island, 1993-1996. He was parochial vicar at St. Joseph’s, Greenwich Village, 1987-1993; St. Patrick’s, Staten Island, 1984-1987; and Holy Rosary, the Bronx, 1980-1984. He was ordained in 1980.


Father Chisholm has served since 2005 as pastor of St. Patrick’s parish in Oakland, Calif. He previously was administrator of a parish in Los Angeles for six years, and was a professor at the University of Detroit Mercy, 1994-1998. He was ordained for the Society of Jesus in 1993.


Father Esguerra-Lopez was named pastor of Santa Maria parish in the Bronx, where he has served as parochial vicar since his ordination in 2008. Previously he was director of religious education there. His appointment as pastor was effective May 15. A member of the Idente Missionaries, he was ordained in 2008.


Father Gimeno-Ortega was ordained for the Piarist Fathers in 1989.
Father Hallinan has served as assistant for social justice ministries in the Jesuits’ New York Province, 2004-2011, and parochial vicar at St. Ignatius Loyola church in Manhattan, 1996-2004. He was ordained in 1995.


Father Phillip Howard, C.S.Sp., previously was pastor of Our Lady of the Valley parish in Hemet, Calif.; St. Joseph’s, Houston, Texas; Our Lady of Good Counsel, Toronto; and St. Mary Magdalene, Chicago. He also served in missions in Paraguay. A member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, he was ordained in 1979.


Father Andrew Reitz, O.F.M., was named pastor of St. Francis of Assisi parish in Manhattan, effective May 1. He was formerly pastor of Sacred Heart parish in Tampa, Fla., and of St. Francis of Assisi parish in Brant Beach, N.J., where he had served earlier as parochial vicar. A Franciscan, he also held various positions in formation ministry in Holy Name Province.

ADMINISTRATORS


Msgr. Marchitelli has served as president of Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains, since 2003. He was principal of John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, Somers, 1996-2003, and a teacher at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, Staten Island, 1979-1996. He was a parochial vicar at St. Augustine’s, Highland, and is chaplain of the archdiocesan Scouting program. He was ordained in 1976.


Msgr. Paddack is currently temporary administrator of Holy Family, the Bronx. He was principal of Msgr. Farrell High School, Staten Island, 2002-2010, and a teacher at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, Staten Island, and Cardinal Hayes High School, the Bronx. Earlier he served as a parochial vicar at Incarnation parish, Manhattan. He was ordained in 1984.


Father Emmanuel has been serving as parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe, since 1997. He was ordained in 1981 and incardinated into the archdiocese in 2004.


Father Emumwen has been serving as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph of the Holy Family in Harlem since 2009. He previously served at that parish from 1989 to 2002. He also served at St. Charles Borromeo, Harlem, 1986-1988, and Our Lady of Solace, the Bronx, 1981-1985. He was ordained in 1969 for the Archdiocese of Benin City, Nigeria.


Father Monteiro has been serving as parochial vicar of St. Lawrence O’Toole, Brewster, since 2009. He also served in the archdiocese at St. Gabriel’s, New Rochelle, and as chaplain at Sound Shore Medical Center, New Rochelle, both 2003-2006; and St. Teresa’s, Manhattan, 1995-2003. He was ordained in his native India in 1973 and incardinated into the archdiocese in 2010.


Father Quezada has served as parochial vicar of Ascension parish, Manhattan, since 1987. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic in 1983.


Father Sears has been serving at St. Rose of Lima, Manhattan, since 2006. He was parochial vicar of Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx, 2005-2006. He was ordained in 2005.


Father Soler has been serving as parochial vicar at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Manhattan, since his ordination in 2007.


Father Woodruff has served as parochial vicar at Assumption, Maybrook, since 2005. He also has served at St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac; St. Patrick’s, Newburgh; and Holy Family, Staten Island. He was ordained in 1982.

PAROCHIAL VICARS


Father Louis Anderson has served as parochial vicar at Assumption parish, Peekskill, since his ordination to the priesthood in 2007.


Father Robert Bubel has served as parochial vicar at St. Stephen’s, Warwick, since his ordination in 2008.


Father Vincent Druding has served as parochial vicar at Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx. He was ordained in 2009.


Father Arthur Golino has served as temporary administrator of St. Columba’s, Manhattan, since 2009. He was pastor of St. Sylvester’s, Staten Island, 1997-2009. He was parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament, Staten Island, 1991-1997; Sacred Heart, Newburgh, 1991; Sacred Heart, Staten Island, 1989-1991; St. Ann’s, Ossining, 1986-1989; St. Ann’s, Manhattan, 1982-1986; and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Manhattan, 1981-1982. He was ordained for the Pallottine Fathers in 1980 and incardinated into the archdiocese in 1990.


Father Michael Holleran has served as parochial vicar of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Chapel of Our Lady of the Scapular-St. Stephen’s, Manhattan, since 2009. In the archdiocese, he also served as parochial vicar of St. Frances de Chantal, Bronx, 2007-2009; St. Lucy’s, Manhattan, 2002-2007; and St. Joseph’s-Greenwich Village, 1995-2002. He was ordained for the Carthusian Order in 1979 and incardinated into the archdiocese in 2009.


Father Neil Kelly has served as parochial vicar of St. Lucy’s, the Bronx, since 1996. He also served at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Bronx, 1991-1996. He was ordained in 1991.


Father Ramon Lopez has served as parochial vicar at St. Raymond’s, the Bronx, since his ordination in 2008.


Father John McCarthy has served as parochial vicar at St. Clare’s, Staten Island, since 2008. He also served at Sacred Heart, Newburgh, 2005-2008. He was ordained in 2005.


Father Patrick McCarthy has served as parochial vicar at St. Barnabas, Bronx, since his ordination in 2008.


Father John Palatucci had served as parochial vicar of St. Helena’s, the Bronx, since last fall and had also served there, 2004-2007. He served at St. Joseph-St. Thomas, Staten Island, 2007-2010. He was ordained in 2004.


Father Ronald Perez has served as parochial vicar of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha since his ordination in 2008.


Father Thomas Roslak has served as parochial vicar of St. Augustine’s, New City, since his ordination last year.


Father Brian Taylor has served as parochial vicar at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Staten Island, since last July. He served at St. Joseph’s, Bronxville, 2006-2010. He was ordained in 2006.


Father Matthew Yatkauskas has served as parochial vicar of St. Joseph’s, Yorkville, since 2002. He had served at Holy Name of Mary, Croton-on-Hudson, 1996-2002; St. Joseph’s, Croton Falls, 1992-1996; and St. Francis of Assisi, Mount Kisco, 1989-1992. He was ordained in 1989.

OTHER ASSIGNMENTS


Father Berg has served as parochial vicar of St. Denis, Yonkers, and as director of the Westchester Institute for Ethics and the Human Person. He previously served as parochial vicar of St. Columba’s, Hopewell Junction. A former member of the Legionaries of Christ, he was associate professor of moral philosophy at the Legionaries’ Center for Higher Learning in Thornwood for 10 years. He founded the Westchester Institute with three colleagues in 1998; he was ordained for the order in 2000.


Father Cinnante has served as parochial vicar of St. Columba’s, Hopewell Junction, since 2008. He served at Holy Rosary, the Bronx, 2007-2008. He was ordained in 2007.


Father Cruz has served as pastor of Christ the King, the Bronx, since 2006, and also became administrator of Our Lady of Victory, the Bronx, in 2009. He was a parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth’s, Washington Heights, 2003-2006. He was ordained in 2003.


Father Kelly has served as pastor of St. Anthony’s on Commonwealth Avenue, the Bronx, since 1995. Before that, he was spiritual director of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, 1988-1995; director of a parish mission team in Suffern, 1986-1988; a member of the archdiocesan mission team, 1981-1986; and a parochial vicar at Holy Spirit, the Bronx, 1978-1981. He was ordained in 1978.

Father Morris has served as professor of Church history at St. Joseph’s Seminary since 2007. He was pastor of Blessed Sacrament parish, Staten Island, 2004-2007, and St. Francis of Assisi, the Bronx, 2000-2004. He was administrator of Most Holy Trinity Chapel, West Point, 1997-1999, where he previously was parochial vicar. He twice served as parochial vicar of St. Augustine’s, Larchmont, and also served at Holy Child, Staten Island, and St. Barnabas, the Bronx. He was ordained in 1989. 


Father O’Reilly has been coordinator of the Archdiocesan University Apostolate since 2007 and also served as spiritual director at St. John Neumann Residence since 2008. He was parochial vicar of Resurrection parish, Rye, 2003-2007. He was ordained in 2003.

Father O’Halloran has been pastor of St. Denis since 1993 and served for seven months previously as administrator. He was on the faculty of Cathedral Prep Seminary, 1985-1993, and a parochial vicar at St. John’s, Kingsbridge, 1981-1985, and Our Lady of Solace, 1978-1981, both in the Bronx. He was ordained in 1978.
