Remembering the 1916 Easter Rising

The event was held by the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians in conjunction with Rockland Irish Northern Aid, the Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association and the Council of Irish Association of Greater Bergen County. Above, posters of the heroes of the Easter Rising are shown. Other events of the day included a Mass of remembrance, a reading of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and other speeches.

Father John Collins C.S.P., receives offertory gifts at a morning Mass in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland on the Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association Field in Orangeburg April 24. The National Ancient Order of Hibernians marked the anniversary on April 23 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with a Mass and a piped procession on Park Avenue.
