Cardinal Dolan ordained Father Michael Eguino, S.D.B., to the priesthood for the Salesians of Don Bosco at his home parish of St. Benedict in the Bronx June 27.

Father Eguino, 30, is an alumnus of Salesian High School in New Rochelle and Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., where he also studied for the priesthood at Immaculate Conception Seminary.

For four years he was a member of the Salesian formation community in Orange, N.J. He served as a deacon for the last year at Holy Rosary parish in Port Chester.

In August he will teach at Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, La., and serve at nearby parishes served by the Salesian community.

Father Eguino entered the Salesian formation program shortly after his high school graduation and made his novitiate in New York City, 2005-2006. He professed first vows in 2006 and final vows in 2012.

Father Eguino taught world history and theology at Salesian High School, 2008-2010. He served on the retreat team at Don Bosco Retreat Center, Stony Point, 2010-2011.

Some 50 Salesian, diocesan and religious priests concelebrated the ordination Mass with Cardinal Dolan and Father Eguino.

Father Stephen Norton, the pastor, and other parish clergy welcomed the visiting clergy and guests. The parish choir sang under the direction of Anne Myers. The large parish church was nearly full with Salesians, members of the Eguino family, St. Benedict parishioners, Sisters of St. John the Baptist, Salesian Sisters, and representatives of several places where Father Eguino has served as a Salesian.
