In addition to using the initials “RCIA,” please consider using the full spelling of the term “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” in your publication. (CNY, March 20). All too often, from the pulpit and in print, we hear and see the initials as if they were universally known.
My sense is that the term “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” is relatively young, perhaps only since Vatican Council II. The initials, RCIA, may be easier to remember and say, but they have a limited recognition.
