St. John Villa Academy on Staten Island will hold its first One-Academy awards dinner and auction.

The dinner theme is “Lights, Camera, Auction…Celebrating Villa’s Stars.”

The Blessed Alfonso Maria Fusco Award will be presented to Msgr. James Dorney, pastor of St. Peter’s parish and co-vicar of Staten Island for his dedication and support of quality education.

The Spirit of the Academy Award will be given to Sal and Maria Riggio for their continuing financial and volunteer support of the school. Marian Romagnolo Sparago, a former music and drama teacher, will be honored with the Lifetime Legacy Award.

The Spotlight on Villa Award will be presented to Mike Proffitt and Dorothy Clinton, who coach the high school track team.

John Mattera, owner of Arrochar Pharmacy who assisted in the development of the athletics program at the elementary school, will be honored with the Villa and Community Award.

Mary Guardino will be honored with the Sisters of St. John the Baptist Humanitarian Award. She is the founder of Freedom from Fear, a national nonprofit mental health advocacy association. Academy students regularly volunteer there.
