‘The Real Presence’

Posted

Once every year, Holy Mother Church celebrates the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ, but in reality it is celebrated every day of the year at every holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

“I give you my word” was a term often used in the past to honor a commitment made between honorable men, and a firm handshake was enough to seal that commitment. In Scripture, Jesus Himself gives us His Word at the Last Supper when He said, “This is my Body; this is my Blood.” These words were not spoken by a mere man, but by Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. He seals His Words, not with a handshake, but with His own precious Blood. Therefore, they are true and trustworthy, and ought to be believed.

The foundation of our Catholic Faith is our belief in Jesus’ Real Presence, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, in the Blessed Sacrament. As Catholics, it is important that we exercise our faith by example and word so that it may be strengthened and grow deeper.

To my Catholic brothers and sisters who doubt or perhaps no longer believe in Jesus’ Real Presence, I respectfully ask you to please enter a Catholic Church and sit before Jesus in the Tabernacle and tell Jesus, “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief.”
