Twelve Deacons to Be Ordained At Cathedral June 25

Deacon Douglas Adams, 57, is a member of Sacred Heart parish, Suffern. He and his wife, Lisa, have been married for 34 years. They have one daughter, Abigail. He is a public school superintendent at Ramapo Central School District in Suffern. A superintendent for 20 years, he had served as a principal, teacher and coach. He holds a doctorate in education from the University of Arkansas, a law degree from the University of Arkansas, master’s degrees from Iona College and the University of Florida, and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Deacon Kenneth Briskey, 52, has been married to Kate for 33 years. They have four adult children and four grandchildren. He and his wife belong to Regina Coeli parish, Hyde Park. He works for IBM in Poughkeepsie as an engineering manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, with a master’s in information systems from Marist College. He has run the parish carnival, worked with the homeless, led a Bible study in his home, made nursing home visits and participated in the Cursillo movement. 

Deacon Paul Brisson, 53, attended Power Memorial Academy in Manhattan and received a bachelor’s degree from Iona College. He obtained his master’s in technology management from Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He has worked for several Fortune 500 companies during his career in technology management. In 1999, he and his wife, Joan, became parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pelham Manor, now Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Catharine, Pelham Manor. Married for 27 years, the couple has two children, Timothy and Abigail.

Deacon John Catalano, 63, is a professional sales trainer, specializing in revenue generation and personal development skills. He and his wife, Josephine, have been parishioners for more than 20 years at St. Catharine’s, Pelham, now Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Catharine, Pelham Manor. They have two adult daughters, Angela and Christina, and a teenage son, Joseph. John has moderated a men’s fellowship group at St. Catharine’s since 2000, and has served as a morning lector at St. Patrick’s Cathedral since 2010. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from the University of Dayton in Ohio, and worked in advertising sales for more than 30 years at NBC, USA Networks and Fox Television. His recent pastoral work has been done at the Hebrew Home in Riverdale, where his wife is director of volunteer services.  

Deacon Robert Cranston, 71, is a member of St. John the Evangelist, Saugerties, the northernmost parish in the archdiocese. He has been a certified public accountant for 34 years, running a private practice. He has served his parish for many years as a sexton, lector, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, religious education teacher, in addition to singing in the music ministry for 18 years. He has been married for 31 years to his wife, Stephanie, and they have raised three children, Irena, Emma and Gavin. 

Deacon Michael Hall, 64, is the director of religious education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Catharine, Pelham Manor. He served as a chaplain assistant in the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of Iona College. He has worked in the archdiocese as a teacher at Sacred Heart High School, Yonkers, and was director of religious education at Blessed Sacrament parish, New Rochelle. He distributes Communion to patients at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital on Sundays. 

Deacon Frank Iovine, 65, is a parishioner of Sacred Heart, Newburgh, where he served as lector and extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. He is the founder of the Sons of Thunder Men’s Group. He is a 45-year employee of Verizon Communications. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and communications from Adelphi University. 

Deacon John Michael Maulucci, 51, is a parishioner of St. Frances of Rome, the Bronx. He and his wife, Maria, have been married for 28 years and have three children, John, Anthony and Anna.  He is a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx and St. John’s University. A retired detective of the New York Police Department, he is employed as a store manager for Ace Hardware in the Bronx. 

Deacon Jorge Uriel Montealegre, 53, is a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Elmsford. He credits his calling as a deacon to his service as a lector, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, food pantry worker, catechist and RCIA teacher for the Spanish community, and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was formerly a member of the parish council. He and his wife of 25 years, Luz Adriana, are involved in the Spanish pre-Cana ministry, prayer group for vocations and priesthood and the Spanish Rosary Pilgrimage group, Servants of Jesus and Mary. He and his wife have two daughters, Eliana and Stefany. Jorge works as a facilities director for PVH Corp. He earned an associate’s degree in business administration and finance from Nuestra Señora College in Colombia. 

Deacon Robert J. Piloco, 57, is a retired New York City educator.  He was a teacher and administrator for more 27 years. He has a master’s degree from Fordham University in religious studies and a master’s from Lehman College in special education. He has lived and served as a volunteer at the following parishes: Our Lady of Victory in Mount Vernon, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Elmsford and Transfiguration in Tarrytown, where he is now a parishioner. 

Deacon James A. Quadrino, 51, and his wife, Maria, have been married for 27 years. They have three adult sons, John, Joseph and James and a grandchild on the way. James has been an electrician with Local 3 IBEW for 30 years and has served as the foreman of many projects in New York City. He is a member of American Mensa. He is a graduate of Msgr. Farrell High School, Staten Island, and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from CUNY College of Staten Island. A parishioner of Holy Child, Staten Island, he has served as a lector and an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. He is a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and chairman of the Making All Things New committee. He is a volunteer at ArchCare at Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Staten Island. 

John Tomasicchio, 58, is a member of St. Stephen the First Martyr parish, Warwick. He recently retired from IBM, where he was employed for 35 years. He and his wife of 32 years, Anne, have three children, John, Mary and Kristen. He holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting from Seton Hall University. Active in his parish, John served as a lector, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and volunteer in hospital ministry. He is the coordinator of the Hudson Valley chapter of Encourage, an archdiocesan apostolate.
