Two-Sided Violence

Posted

Whenever I come across Catholic New York, I find it to be an interesting, quality publication I very much enjoy reading.
In your Aug. 20 issue, the article “Villanova Coach Promotes Peace Through Hoops in the Holy Land,” by Mary Knight, was informative and well-written except for one oversight. The examples of violence cited list only Jewish perpetrators. Some readers might conclude most assaults occur because of Jewish attackers.
It would have been helpful to indicate the majority of actions were due to Arab terrorists, while those on the Jewish side, however wrong, happened in the minority of cases. When they did, the Israelis came down hard on the perpetrators and increased security for everyone. The Israeli public reacted with outrage against the violence and held numerous prayer vigils.
Once again, aside from this single facet, it was a fine article.
