Weekend Happenings

Looking for some faith-based activities for this weekend? Why not attend one of the following events taking place in the archdiocese?

This Sunday, Slovak parishes and societies in the archdiocese are holding the annual Slovak Day pilgrimage at the Marian Shrine in Stony Point. The day begins with the sacrament of reconciliation at 10 a.m. An outdoor liturgy will be celebrated in Slovak at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow. The day concludes with outdoor Rosary devotions at 2:30 p.m. Information: (718) 463-2084.

Also on Sunday, Transfiguration Church in Manhattan will hold its 18th annual procession in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary beginning at 2 p.m. The day includes Scripture readings, prayers, songs and recitation of the Rosary. The procession will make stops at nearby St. Teresa’s, St. Joseph’s and St. James churches before returning to Transfiguration Church where Cardinal Dolan will lead Benediction at 4 p.m. Information: (212) 962-5157.
