Brother Barry Norman, M.M.,

who was a missioner to Bolivia, died Aug. 16 at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, Sleepy Hollow. He was 79.

In 1958 he was assigned to work on a radio project in Cochabamba, Bolivia, that connected people in the hard-to-reach areas via airwaves. In 1980, he returned to Maryknoll headquarters in Ossining until his retirement.

Born in Detroit, he entered Maryknoll in 1956 and professed final vows in 1964.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Occupational Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 20 at Queen of Apostles Chapel, with burial at Maryknoll Cemetery.
