Brother Francis Rene Papineau, S.A., who served at Graymoor for 18 years, died Dec. 1 at New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor. He was 90.
Brother Papineau was at Graymoor as administrator of St. Francis Novitiate, 2009-2012, and worked in the purchasing department, 1981-1984, and administrative services, 1965-1977. He also served in Montour Falls, Saranac Lake, Washington D.C., Florida and England.
Born in Central Falls, R.I., Brother Papineau entered the Community of the Friars of the Atonement in 1952 and professed final vows in 1961.
He served in the U.S. Navy, 1945-1947, where he received a World War II Victory Medal.
A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 6 at St. Paul Friary Chapel, Graymoor. Burial followed in the friars’ cemetery.
