Brother Henry Anselm Otto, C.F.C.

Brother Henry Anselm Otto, C.F.C., who taught at many high schools and elementary schools in the archdiocese, died Dec. 30 at St. Joseph's Residence in New Rochelle. He was 78. He served in Manhattan at Rice High School, 1984-1994 and 1961-1967; Power Memorial Academy, 1972-1984; and St. Cecilia's Grammar School, 1947-1949; and in the Bronx at Cardinal Hayes High School, 1959-1961. In New Rochelle, he taught at Blessed Sacrament High School, 1952-1959; Iona Preparatory School, 1950-1952; and Iona Grammar School, 1949-1950. He also was part of the Christian Brothers Central Harlem Community, where he served the homeless, 1994-2003. Born in Manhattan, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1942 and professed final vows in 1953. He held a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in modern European history from Fordham University in the Bronx. A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 4 at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle, with burial at the Christian Brothers' Cemetery in West Park.
