Brother John Greenan, C.F.C., who served at Iona Prep for two years, died Aug. 19 at Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle. He was 79.
Brother Greenan was assigned to Iona Prep, 2016-2019. He also served in California, Washington, Hawaii, Illinois, Canada, Ireland and Italy.
Born in Manhattan, he attended Rice High School in Harlem and St. Joseph’s Juniorate in West Park. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1955 and professed final vows in 1965.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Iona College, and a master’s in education administration from the University of Hawaii, Honolulu.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 24 at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. Burial was in Christian Brothers Cemetery, West Park.
