Brother John Stephen O’Keefe, C.F.C., who served in Chicago for 34 years, died March 7. He was 88.
Brother O’Keefe was in Chicago from 1974 until retiring to St. Joseph’s Residence in New Rochelle in 2008.
He also served in Hawaii, Washington and British Columbia, Canada.
Born in New York City, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1946 and professed final vows in 1957. The graduate of Rice High School in Harlem received bachelor’s degrees in English from Iona College, New Rochelle, and in math from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.
His brother William survives him.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 12 in Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. Burial was in Christian Brothers Cemetery, West Park.
