Brother Robert Taylor, S.A., who served the Graymoor community in Garrison, died Nov. 9 at St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly in Totowa, N.J. He was 77.
He served as a counselor at St. Chrisopher’s Inn at Graymoor from 2002 until his retirement in 2009. He was secretary to the minister general at Graymoor, 1987-1990, and business administrator, 1991-1999. He served as vocation director, 1978-1981; was procurator of St. Paul’s Friary, 1969-1972; and was associate treasurer general, 1972-1978. He also served as a tailor at Graymoor, 1965-1967.
He was superior of the Waverly Place friary in Lower Manhattan in 1967.
He was moderator and director of Catholic Central Library in London, 1981-1987. He performed administrative services at the Atonement Seminary in Washington, D.C., 1963-1965.
Born in the Bronx, he entered the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement in 1960 and professed final vows in 1967. He held a bachelor’s degree from Pace University.
Brother Taylor is survived by his sister, Sister Rose Taylor, l.s.p.
A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 12 in the chapel of the St. Pius X Building at Graymoor, Garrison. Burial followed in the friars’ cemetery.
