Brother Thomas Peter O'Dwyer, C.F.C., who taught in New Rochelle and Manhattan, died Jan. 13 at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle. He was 98 and had lived at St. Joseph's Residence of the Congregation of Christian Brothers in New Rochelle. A teacher of history, he served at Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School in New Rochelle, 1984-2005, and at Blessed Sacrament before its merger with St. Gabriel's, 1969-1984 and 1954-1966. He taught at Power Memorial Academy in Manhattan, 1951-1954. He also taught and was a superior in Newfoundland. From 1966 to 1969, he was treasurer of the congregation's Eastern American Province. Born in Ireland, he entered the congregation in Dublin in 1924 and professed final vows in 1933. He came to the United States in 1951. He received the Blessed Edmund Rice Founders Medal from the congregation in 2002 and was made a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre in 2003. A Funeral Mass was offered at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle Jan. 18, with burial at the Christian Brothers' cemetery in West Park.
