Brother William Eugene O'Connor, C.F.C., who was a teacher in the archdiocese, died Oct. 2 at St. Joseph's Care Center in New Rochelle. He was 76.
Brother William was a teacher in Manhattan at Power Memorial Academy, 1983-1984, and at St. Cecilia School and its annex, Commander Shea School, 1966-1976. He taught at St. Augustine's, Highland, 1992-1995; Iona Grammar School, New Rochelle, 1976-1983; and All Hallows High School, the Bronx, 1963-1966.
He served as a hospital volunteer, tutor and in various school positions in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Washington.
Born in the Bronx, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1951 and professed final vows in 1959.
A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 6 at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle, with burial in the Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park.
