Cardinal Dolan blessed ArchCare at Home and its staff, and presided over the dedication of a new health care career training center co-located with ArchCare at Home in Kingston June 17.

ArchCare is the archdiocese’s health care system; its programs care for more than 9,000 people of all ages and faiths each day at home, in the community and in skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers.

“When Jesus cared for the sick, He didn’t wait for the sick to come to Him. He went out into the community to heal them,” Cardinal Dolan said. “The dedicated professionals of ArchCare walk in Jesus’ footsteps every day, bringing their expert care to the sick and elderly wherever they are, in communities throughout the Hudson Valley, where their skill and compassion are needed most.”

Cardinal Dolan also led the dedication of the new health care career training center, a 5,100-square-foot training center offering free training for health care workers and a guaranteed job upon completion as an effort to draw more entry-level, long-term-care workers and improve skills, employment and advancement opportunities for care professionals in the Hudson Valley.

The training center has classroom space, a clinical education suite and a computer lab for students to access a variety of online courses on their own schedule. ArchCare, a state-designated Workforce Investment Organization, will train its employees as well as employees of other long-term-care providers. The courses will be free through a grant from the New York State Department of Health’s Managed Long-Term Care Workforce Investment Program.

“ArchCare’s mission is to ensure that anyone who needs extra help to stay healthy and live safely can receive the care they need in the homes and communities they love, right here in the Hudson Valley,” said Scott LaRue, ArchCare’s president and CEO. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support the New York State Department of Health’s efforts as a designated Workforce Investment Organization.”
