Katya Hybran, a freshman at Cathedral High School in Manhattan, has been accepted into the Academies at Harvard. The Academies are intensive, five-day academic enrichment programs for high-achieving high school students, offering lessons in coding, business, politics and pre-med.

Katya will attend the Summer Politics Academy in July. The SP Academy will cover topics such as American news media, free speech, constitutional law and American education policy. The goal is for students to learn how political science addresses important issues of our time, and how public officials implement policy in response.

Cynthia Garcia, Katya’s guidance counselor, said Katya is an honor roll student who hopes to attend Yale University and become a lawyer. “When I came across the program, I thought it would be a great opportunity for Katya, and I nominated her for it,” Ms. Garcia said.
