Deacon Raymond Hodges

Deacon Raymond Hodges, a retired math teacher who had served as a deacon at Infant Saviour parish in Pine Bush for the past 11 years, died Oct. 26 at Orange Regional Medical Center Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 78. He was a parishioner of Infant Saviour for 52 years. Deacon Hodges was a retired high school mathematics teacher who had served for 30 years as chairman of the mathematics department at the Pine Bush Central School District and was an adviser to the National Honor Society at Pine Bush High School, where he was a teacher for many years. He also was a part-time math instructor at Orange County Community College. He was a member and former officer in the Pine Bush Knights of Columbus Council 5329, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Deacon Hodges grew up in Oneonta and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics at SUNY Oneonta. He was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Frances; a daughter, Debra Mary Townley; and a son, Raymond. Also surviving are a sister, Mabel Hodges, and a brother, Francis Hodges. A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 30 at Infant Saviour Church, with burial in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown.
