Donald F. Lutz, the father of an archdiocesan priest, died Feb. 19 in Poughkeepsie. He was 89.
His son, Father Thomas Lutz, is pastor of Sacred Heart parish in Patterson.
A native of Poughkeepsie, Mr. Lutz was a registered pharmacist for more than 60 years and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 304, American Legion Post 1302, the O.H. Booth Hose Fife & Drum Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific on the hospital ship U.S.S. Relief during World War II.
In addition to Father Lutz, he is survived by a son, Steven, and a daughter, Susan Steinbach. His wife, the former Dorothy K. Andres, predeceased him.
A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 24 at Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie, with Father John M. Lagiovane, principal of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, as celebrant, and Father Lutz as homilist. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
