Emilia Ursula Mary Yatkauskas, mother of Father Matthew Yatkauskas, a priest of the archdiocese, died Jan. 6 at her home in Little River, S.C. She was 87.
Born in Ridgewood, Queens, she worked in the advertising industry before her marriage. She and her husband, Albert, eventually moved to Yonkers with their four sons. They were members of St. Denis parish there.
They retired to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., 30 years ago. She was a parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea parish, serving as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, lector and volunteer.
Her husband and a son predeceased Mrs. Yatkauskas. Two other sons, John and Albert, and one sister, Theresa Hennelley, survive her. Father Yatkauskas offered the Funeral Mass Jan. 13 at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Burial will take place at a time to be determined by the family.
