Father Daniel Davies, O.P.

Father Daniel Davies, O.P., a former pastor of Holy Rosary in Hawthorne, died Aug. 2 at Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry. He was 90.

He was pastor of Holy Rosary, 1990-1996, and parochial vicar there, 1989-1990. He was also parochial vicar of Holy Innocents parish, Pleasantville, 2000-2017 and 1996-1997, and of St. Vincent Ferrer, Manhattan, 1998-2000. He also served in New Jersey, Louisiana, Tennessee and Michigan.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., he served in the U.S. Navy, 1946-1947. He entered the Dominican Novitiate in 1951. He made final vows in 1955 and was ordained in 1958. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Providence College.

His sisters, Sister Mary Elizabeth Davies, S.C., Lillian Davies Bird and Ruth Ann Davies Foley, survive him.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 9 at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville. Burial followed in All Souls Cemetery, Pleasantville.
