Father Joseph DiMauro, S.A.

Father Joseph DiMauro, S.A., who served at Graymoor in Garrison for 22 years, died Nov. 29 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 80.

Father DiMauro served for 16 years at Graymoor’s Christian Unity Center, and also provided administrative services for the friars, 1960-1966. He also served in Montour Falls, Saranac Lake, Massachusetts, North Carolina, London, and Rome. He retired from full-time ministry in 2015.

Born in Boston, he entered the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement in 1957, professed final vows in 1965 and was ordained in 1978.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and master’s degrees from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome.

His brothers, Paul and Thomas, survive him.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 6 in Our Lady of the Atonement Chapel at Graymoor. Burial was in the Friars’ Cemetery.
