Father Peter A. Granzotto, S.D.B.

Father Peter A. Granzotto, S.D.B., who served for 33 years in Port Chester parishes, died June 14. He was 91.

Father Granzotto was stationed in Port Chester, 1985-2018, serving at Corpus Christi, Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Mercy parishes. (The parishes were merged in 2017, along with Sacred Heart of Jesus, also in Port Chester, to become St. John Bosco parish.)

Father Granzotto served at Salesian Seminary, Goshen, 1970-1979. He also served in New Jersey, Indiana and Massachusetts.

Born in Detroit, he entered the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1947 and professed final vows in 1953. He was ordained by Cardinal Maurilio Fossati in the Basilica of Mary Help Christians in Turin, Italy, in 1957.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Don Bosco College in Newton, N.J., and a licentiate in sacred theology from Universita Pontificia Salesiana in Rome.

His brothers, Edward and Robert, and his sister Mary, survive him.

A Funeral Mass was offered June 19 in St. John Bosco Church, Port Chester. Burial was to take place June 20 in Salesian Cemetery, Goshen.
