Father Philip R. Doyle

Father Philip R. Doyle, a priest in the archdiocese for 70 years, died June 30 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. He was 95.

Cardinal Dolan will offer the Funeral Mass at noon on Saturday, July 7, at St. James the Apostle in Carmel. Msgr. Joseph Martin will deliver the homily.

Father Doyle was temporary administrator of St. Veronica, Manhattan, 1976-1983. He went on sick leave in 1983 and retired in 1992.

He was parochial vicar of St. Mary Star of the Sea, the Bronx, 1961-1976; St. John the Evangelist, Mahopac, 1960-1961; St. Paul, Congers, 1955-1960; Corpus Christi, Manhattan, 1954-1955; Holy Family, the Bronx, 1949-1954; and St. Patrick, Yorktown Heights, 1948-1949.

Born in Manhattan, Father Doyle attended Fordham University and St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie. He was ordained in 1948 by Cardinal Francis Spellman.

Burial follows the Funeral Mass in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, New Rochelle.
