Sister Maria Teresa Colabella, M.M.

Sister Maria Teresa Colabella, M.M., who worked in community health services in New Rochelle for eight years, died March 19 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 78.

Sister Maria served in New Rochelle, 2006-2014. She also worked in health services with the Dominican Sisters of Hope in Ossining, 1999-2006. She also served at the Maryknoll Sisters Center.

She was a missioner to Peru, Ecuador and Nicaragua in the 1980s.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1978 and professed final vows in 1988.

She earned her RN from Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. John’s University and a master’s in theology from Maryknoll Seminary in Ossining.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 26 in Annunciation Chapel at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery there.
