Father Thomas C. Gumprecht, S.A.

Father Thomas C. Gumprecht, S.A., who served as pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary in Yonkers for four years, died June 19 at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in Manhattan. He was 77.

Father Gumprecht was pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2000-2004.

He was elected twice vicar general of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, serving at Graymoor in Garrison, 1989-1998. He also served in Virginia, Italy, Canada and Brazil, where he was missioned for 21 years.

Born in Meriden, Conn., he entered the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement in 1959 and professed final vows in 1963. He was ordained in 1968.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Pius X Seminary, Garrison, and a master’s in ecumenics from the University of Hull in England.

His sister, Elizabeth D’Addario, survives him. A Funeral Mass was offered June 30 at St. Paul Friary Chapel at Graymoor. Burial is being scheduled at St. Andrew the Apostle Church Columbarium in Apex, N.C.
