James Houlihan

James Houlihan, a partner in his family’s real estate business for 47 years and a knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and the Order of Malta, died March 2. He was 95.

Houlihan, a longtime resident of Bronxville, joined his family’s real estate business in 1955 and was a partner in Houlihan-Parnes Realtors LLC, 1960-2007. He was active in many Catholic and philanthropic endeavors.

Born in Manhattan, he was a graduate of All Hallows High School, the Bronx, and received a bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College, the Bronx, and a master’s from the Columbia University School of Business. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His children James Houlihan, John Houlihan, William Houlihan, Mary Coleman, Thomas Houlihan and Patricia McRae, and 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren survive him.

His wife of 66 years, Mary Houlihan, predeceased him last year.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 8 at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville. Burial was in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, the Bronx.
