Lack of Condemnation

I find the lack of published and outspoken condemnations in Catholic publications and websites of Donald Trump’s characterization of Pope Francis as “disgraceful” to be disgraceful! I have visited various sites—Catholic New York, America Media, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops—and with rare exception I have seen neither articles nor editorials referencing Trump’s comments. The Pope, as our religious leader, whether speaking “ex cathedra” or giving his studied opinion on moral issues, is never “disgraceful.” Trump should be repudiated by every Catholic in the nation for his contempt of the Vicar of Christ.
