Longest-Married Couples

Posted

We are 60-year parishioners of St. John’s in Goshen. We just celebrated our 65th wedding anniversary on Jan. 13.  We noticed in Catholic New York this past week that you listed longest-married couples in the Archdiocese of New York. We wondered how you had this information.  It would have been nice to be included as it would let old friends that we have lost touch with become aware of this event.  If it requires us to be in touch with your publication, let us know when it should be done.

Enjoyed your article on the longest-married couples in the Feb. 18 edition of Catholic New York. My parents, Marjorie and Richard Bause, should be on the list. They were married on June 24, 1950, at St. Bernard’s Church in White Plains. They currently reside in Ossining.

You left out my wonderful parents, Howard and Catherine Farewell, married on Oct. 30, 1948, at Holy Cross Church in the Bronx. They are now parishioners of St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville.

Editor’s Note: The list of couples was compiled by the archdiocesan Family Life/Respect Life Office based on entries to the annual Longest-Married Couples contest sponsored by that office. It is publicized each year in Catholic New York and by other means. Winners are recognized on World Marriage Day, the Sunday closest to St. Valentine’s Day.
