Cardinal Dolan and Archbishop Bernardito Auza, permanent observer of the Holy See Mission to the United Nations, are inviting the faithful to a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Canonization of St. Teresa of Calcutta a at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the new apostolic nuncio to the United States, will deliver the homily.

Those planning to attend the liturgy are asked to respond at https://saintteresaarchny.eventbrite.com.

Pope Francis will canonize St. Teresa on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the Vatican.

The foundress of the Missionaries of Charity visited New York on a number of occasions throughout her years of service to the Church.

In celebration of the canonization, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations and ADF International, a global partner of Alliance Defending Freedom, are sponsoring an exhibition dedicated to the enduring message of St. Teresa’s words, witness and work.

The exhibition, from Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Friday, Sept. 9, is located on the curved wall of the first floor of the U.N. Conference Building. The formal presentation of the exhibition will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8.

The weeklong celebration will culminate with a conference on Sept. 9 featuring an international panel of speakers who will discuss such themes as “Mother Teresa and Peace,” “Mother Teresa and the Poorest of the Poor” and “Mother Teresa and Leaving No One Behind.”

A number of Missionaries of Charity are scheduled to attend, as are those served by the Missionaries of Charity in the New York area. Others interested in attending the Sept. 9 conference, held from 3 to 6 p.m. in Room 3 of the U.N. Headquarters, are asked to RSVP at holyseemission.org/rsvpSeptember9.

The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See has launched an online exhibit documenting the deep ties St. Teresa had with the United States.

Compiled to mark St. Teresa’s canonization, the online exhibit appears on the embassy’s website—https://va.usembassy.gov—as well as on its Facebook page. The site includes many items from St. Teresa’s repeated trips to the United States.

New York State Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj and partner organizations will celebrate the canonization of Mother Teresa through special events Sunday, Sept. 4 in Manhattan’s Battery Park.

They include a simulcast of Mother Teresa’s Canonization Mass celebrated in Rome by Pope Francis, and a candlelight vigil at Battery Gardens in Battery Park, from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., a noon Mass and, at 1 p.m., the unveiling of a statue of Mother Teresa.

The family-friendly gathering will also include entertainment, exhibitors and activities.
