“The Bible in a Time for Healing” is the theme of the 10th annual New York Catholic Bible Summit Saturday, Sept. 28, at Cathedral High School in Manhattan.

Cardinal Dolan will offer the closing Mass at 3:30 p.m.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., followed by a welcome at 9 a.m. and the keynote addresses, “Jesus the Healer” (“Jesus el Sanador”) in English and Spanish, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.

The English language keynoter is Dr. Mary Healy, professor of Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit and a general editor of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture. She serves as chair of the Theological Commission of CHARIS (Charismatic Renewal International Service) in Rome and was appointed by Pope Francis as one of the first three women to serve on the Pontifical Biblical Commission.

The Spanish language keynoter is David Bisono, a native of Brooklyn who is the director of Hispanic and Multiculural Ministry in the Diocese of Green Bay, Wis. He is also the creator, producer, director and host of Catholic programs, “Too Blessed to Be Stressed,” “Dios Nunca Duerme” and “Café Con Cristo.”

All sessions are available in English or Spanish tracts.

Father Jose Felix Ortega, administrator of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in the Bronx, is among a host of speakers. He will present, in Spanish, “Encaminando en Tiempo de Tribulación: la Escritura como Recurso de Conversión Continua” (“Leading in Brokenness: Scripture as a Resource for Continual Conversion”).

Father Giuseppe Siniscalchi, C.F.R., assigned to St. Mary of the Assumption Friary in Newburgh, will present “Healing in the Family” in English. Valerie Torres, a faculty member and chair of the religious education department at Aquinas High School in the Bronx, and an adjunct faculty member at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education, will deliver a talk under the same title (“La Sanación en la Familia”) in Spanish.

Other speakers will present, also in English or Spanish, “How to Prepare For and Run a Fruitful Bible Study,” “Healing Through Dialogue—What Our Church Needs” and “Using FORMED in a Bible Study.”

The Adult Faith Formation Office of the archdiocese is sponsoring the Bible Summit this year. Cathedral High School is located at 350 E. 56th St. behind the New York Catholic Center in Manhattan.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to view and venerate first-class relics of two 19th century saints that are visiting the Archdiocese of New York from the Diocese of Honolulu the same weekend. The relics are bone fragments of St. Damien de Veuster and St. Marianne Cope, both of whom served and died in Hawaii. They will be displayed at the high school for the duration of the Bible Summit.

Tickets, $25 each online by Monday, Sept. 23, include morning hospitality, a boxed lunch and light refreshments throughout the day. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door the day of the event for $40 each. Priests, deacons, men and women religious and seminarians receive free admission.
