New York Catholic Bible Summit Set for June 18

The seventh annual New York Catholic Bible Summit will celebrate the jubilee year of mercy at the New York Catholic Center, 1011 First Ave. in Manhattan, on Saturday, June 18.
The archdiocesan Catechetical Office and the American Bible Society are sponsors of the daylong bilingual event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A welcoming address will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. bilingual opening Mass with celebrant and homilist Cardinal Sean O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, as the principal celebrant and homilist.
The keynote speakers, Father Donald Senior, C.P., and Archbishop Jose Octavio Ruiz Arenas, will address the participants in English and Spanish, respectively, at 11 a.m.
Father Senior is president emeritus and chancellor of the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, and Archbishop Ruiz Arenas is the first appointed secretary of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.
Following midday prayer and lunch, participants can attend two one-hour workshops. Seven English and eight Spanish workshops are scheduled with topics such as Women at the Crossroads of Mercy, Jesus Christ is the Face of the Father’s Mercy and The Bible: A Book for Every Family.
